Honoring Mack Prichard, the “Conservation Conscience of Tennessee”

Mack Prichard was Tennessee’s first State Archaeologist and State Naturalist, as well as a talented conservationist, botanist and natural historian. With a career spanning over 50 years, Mack educated thousands of people about conservation and helped acquire more than 40 state parks, natural areas and archaeological sites, including Radnor Lake State Natural Area.

After Mack’s passing in April of 2020, Tennessee’s governor proclaimed that every year, March 31 (Mack’s birthday) would forever be “Mack Prichard Day‘’ across the state.
